Vernon 1-Day Sprint Meet Recap:

A small contingent of Orca swimmers attended a one-day, invitation only swim meet in Vernon on Sunday, February 2nd. This meet was unique in that it was only open to entries from a couple clubs, the events were limited to the four 50s, and the kid’s events were run in tandem with the Masters Swim Meet. What a cool opportunity for our Orca kids to see our Orca Masters in action, swimming hard and working towards their own goals! We can grow up but there are always opportunities to learn and grow. We are hoping that the Masters also enjoyed the Orca mascot and the rest of the cheering squad at the end of their lanes. :)

As for swims, all the kids raced in either three or four of the 50s. This meet, as well as Salmon Arm next weekend, are considered training meets, with the focus on preparing for the upcoming Divisionals in Penticton (February 21-23). Even so, there were a number of best times, and a ton of specific technical goals reached.

Of noteable mention was Alicia and Tristan, both of whom got best times in all three of their races, with Ali breaking 35 seconds for the first time in her 50 Fly, and Tristan breaking 40 for the first time in his 50 Free. Emily, Addison, Ainsley, and Madeleine also swam incredibly well, all working on one or two things to perfect leading up to Divisionals and loudly cheering for their Masters teammates. Super proud of the whole team!!
